The great thing about electronic locks is that you can control every aspect of it. There is a key bypass that is integrated with the FOB key or card to override the locking device. Since each key has its own signature it creates an audit trail and you can see who has entered where and the exact time they did so. You can also program the key to only allow access during certain times. Thus, one person's key may work only from 8am to 6pm on Mondays and another may work from 4pm to 10 pm on Thursdays.
